Can't comment on a Defender - But every new Transit I've checked via work [Exact same engine] has always seemed to have oil level on or even below minimum within a few thousand miles
I'm not talking 2 or 3 vans here - Feckin hundreds of them Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

Thanks very much. Looks like it's a case of "they all do that Sir."
I'll stop worrying and keep it topped up! |

First 20.000 kilometers never needed to top it up with a single drop. Stopped checking it on a regular basis since then.

24000 miles in 14 months and not a drop of oil needed to be put in between the two services I've had since new. That's probably the kiss of death

My 2013 Puma 110 has never used any oil between services, and that's in 45deg+ heat!

yep, there shouldn't be any oil used on the Puma engines, whether 2.4 or 2.2 --

Well just to add to the mix. I've just done my first oil change at 1350 miles and only got 6 litres out and that included the oil from the filter. Filled it back up to the max on the dip stick and could only get 6 litres back in!
Only on a Landrover |

Can only add that I posted a thread on here (last year) because I was worried that my 2.2 Defender (13 plate) was NOT using any oil and was concerned that water or something might be getting in. Consensus at the time was 2.2 does not using oil at any great rate

Thanks for all the replies. My dealer has asked me to monitor how much oil is being used and keep them informed. If it is excessive (and I must admit, I'm disappointed with it), I trust that the warranty will get it sorted out.
