EGR Options
So the 110 now currently has the MIL light on and it throws up every time it starts up P0404 (EGR)
Local garage (who really knows his stuff) informs me that the EGR is stuck completely and he can see this from his diagnostics.

He says he can replace the EGR but obviously this will/may happen again in the future.

I'd quite like to just blank it/disable it. What are my options?

None of the usual (BAS, Alive, Twisted) etc seem to offer this for the 2.4. I don't really need a whole remap, but if necessary would consider it and get the limiter taken off too.

Advice appreciated! Cheers Cheers, David

David,

See my first post on this thread below. I still have these knocking about bar one which is still fitted. You are welcome to borrow these and have a play if you wish. I used them for several years and it was ok with no EGR issues once you got to the correct size. I did loan them to another forum member and once sorted he got one laser cut and returned mine to me.

Easily said Munch but why shell out ballpark Ł600 for a 'not really needed whole map' when there is a potential solution that he seeks which may give him change out of Ł15-Ł20? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Thumbs Up Agree, I went for the blanking as the maps at that time had no EGR off facility. Nevertheless the blanks sold like hotcakes to those that didn't have maps too and the benefits were deemed good just with the blanks alone. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

The vehicle is already remapped by Chris (CSK) which made it drive better for sure, but didn't get the EGR or limiter done.

I'm sure if I went to BAS or Alive etc and got a top class remap then I'm sure it'd be a step up again, so that's something ill look at.

Can BAS and co offer just a EGR delete without full remap? Cheers, David

Hi David,

Not sure if they offer a standalone EGR off service. If not my previous offer stands. Drop me a 'pm' if you wish to take up on it. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

David - What tuning was he using at the time Monster or Alive?

I don't think there is a specific EGR delete tune, mainly I would assume becuase you'd need an ATRIC device unless you went to the actual shop.

Thanks K9F for the offer. How DIYable is it?

Yes Chris was monster at the time. He said he thought it would do the EGR, but it obviously didn't. Doesn't matter though really.

I think I'll drop BAS and Alive emails and see what they can offer too Cheers, David

Easily fitted once you've done the first one. Subsequently no more than 5-10 minutes toil. It was Zedefender I loaned them to and he got a complete set knocked up using the ones I sent him as a pattern. Good results too if you read all his posts.

You can get egr blanks on eBay / Amazon for under a Ł5 inc p&p go for the slotted ones that allow you to loosen the egr bolts and slide in place - makes it easier to fit.

I'd be tempted to do it properly and get a remap.
