Saw that earlier, typical eurobox driver behaviour.

You need only two tools in life: WD-40 and duct tape.
If it doesnt move and it should: WD-40.
If it moves and shouldnt: duct tape it.

Just thought I'd declare my joint Defender / Audi ownership! Sure there are a few of us! And yes, I do like to park as close as physically possible to things. What's the point in having parking sensors if you're not going to use them?!

(I actually usually park it as far away from other cars as possible, happy to park the Defender anywhere with combo of rock sliders and bumperettes!) 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Wifey's drives an Audi S3, & she is VERY fussy with it.
She would NEVER park like that, & if someone parked next to her in that manner, she would probably stay around (well she wouldn't be able to get in her car anyway), & give the driver a serve.

I had to smile the other day when doing my bit in the supermarket isles, when I got back to put the bags in the 110 and went to put the trolley back. As I walked back a Volvo estate reversed in next to mine with both drivers doors next to each other. How he had managed not to scrape his motor on the side steps that hang off my rock sliders I don't know but there was no way I could get to the door let alone open it. So I got in the passenger side and climbed into the drivers seat, proceeded to roll a smoke, check my emails on the phone and make a phonecall. Matey next door seemed to get a bit agitated, his wife was giving him grief and he had to concede and drove off and found another parking space.
It gives you a sense of self satisfaction when you get back to your Defender in a car park and you can see the tell tale dent on the car parked next to you from where they have slammed their door into my 'not going anywhere' rock/tree sliders.

Coming at this the other way though, I find with the jimny it being so tiny it fits between all but the most ignorant bits of parking with enough space to get in and out and another thing I noticed that when it's just been washed others tend to park quite tight but when as it is most of the time it's covered in muck up to the roof people don't get anything like as close to it as if mud is contagious. I have to take issue with your title - it would only involve skill if the Audi driver knew what he was doing and knew how much space he had. More likely it is lucky parking, lucky in that he didn't (apparently) hit the other car.

It is without question thoughtless, arrogant, and antisocial behaviour and quite unnecessary. If you look at the marking for the space, the Audi is well over into the next space.

Blackwolf, completely agree. You can see in the second shot that by the angle of his wheels he merely 'swung' the car into the bay. He was lucky, rather than skilled. I tell you though, as bad as London was, it is not a patch on France where using bumpers to parallel park, or smacking doors on neighbouring cars is a national sport. Make the neighbouring car a 'prestige' marque and you are even more likely to have it dinged. My wife's Mini had almost no damage after five years in London, indeed just pitting on the bonnet from M-way runs. Out here we rarely get back with out some new scrape, bash, dink, etc. Defender gets left alone, bar the odd muppet denting their door on my runners. I just shake my head and drive away.....The other thing is that the French like to drive on tight lanes with their mirrors closed. Little do they realise that the mirror acts as a nice safety valve. Break the mirror and you're too close. No mirror to use and you only find out you're too close when you've torn off a side panel. But they drive through gaps like their life depends on it and almost with the mentality of 'as long as I don't feel or hear anything, I have made it through and am fine'. Rather than, 'my clio, small as it is, will not get through that gap, so I shall wait for the Defender to get through'. A lot of the former, too little of the latter, so there are a lot of Renaults, Peugeots etc, with folded wing mirrors, taking drastic action into fences and ditches when the Defender comes down the lane....
