Do you have a diagnostic code reader? If not perhaps whip it along to this independant and get him to have a quick look to see if it can be pinned down?

small amount of air maybe , check filter is tight or might be worth just to change it
glow plugs can make it slightly rough for few seconds if not working at all , don't normally make them any harder to start but can make a little rough when first started is it only when sat overnight so stone cold ? |

Thanks guys, oddly it's stopped doing it over the last few days. I'll keep an eye on it and report back with any problems/solutions.
