ACF 50 or Waxoil
Tonnes of snow here, which means salt is being liberally dispersed everywhere. As such, it has got me thinking about protection. The previous owner of my 110 was religious about cleaning it, as have I been since I picked it up in Oct. a weekly (sometimes twice weekly) full clean, including a good clean of the underside (plus as a temporary measure, although not sure how useful, a full spray of the chassis with the wax option). So I am hoping I am still ahead of the horse bolting. However I am keen to look at a more permanent and suitable level of protection in Spring, so I am wondering following:

ACF 50 or Waxoil

And are both DIY applicable?

Many thanks in advance Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

ACF is great, but you need to reapply every few months - and it does wash off much faster when in areas which get sprayed and peppered with the sludge off the roads.

Some prefer dinitrol, some waxoyl - I've used both and think Dinitrol's better

Dinitrol cavity wax for inside the chassis and outriggers

Dinitrol wax everywhere else

The only other thing I would consider is the Bilt Hamber stuff but I haven't used personally.

Scottoiler 365 is a good (much cheaper than ACF 50) after-a-hose-and-wash application as it neutralizes salt.

You need Zagato's bible http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic10467.html

All diy, or if needed, as someone like Killer90. Don't know if Zagato himself still does an off "homer" for forum members. Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Thanks Martin. The bible was very useful. Will get it tackled in Spring. Scottoiler is one I hadn't considered, despite having one on the bike. Merci, Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

Hi Martin

I'm sure Zagato has set himself up in a industrial unit doing anti corrosion treatment, I travlled down in the summer for him to treat my 110 need to say he knows stuff when it comes to treating Defenders.

Need to pick up some Scottoiler F365 to add to the anti corrosion shelf Thumbs Up

Cheers
