I have Grabber Ats on mine and they're a great all rounder and have done 9000 miles and still look like new.

Just recently swapped from Cooper Discovery STTs to BFG KM2 MTs the BFGs are significantly quieter than the Coopers. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Funny you say that, I picked up set of second hand Cooper ST's, yes a little old, but at 90% tread and 4 for $250 I thought why not. However I'm not looking forward to wearing them out, they are as noisy or perhaps noisier than my BFG km2's with 90K on them. I might burn my money yet, as said they are old. My Defender and travels

Surprising as the treads aggressiveness appear about the same. BFG have obviously hit on a winning product with regards to noise. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I think any BFG tyre either A/T or M/T are the best all rounder and best wearing, both capable off road and the all terrains are very predictable on the road too 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

The new BFG ATs might be a good choice for all year round use, though not available in the Uk yet. With the winter tyre rating should mean theyre even better on snow and ice. They don't have as many sipes as I expected, but do look good (just seen them in Moab, Utah). Probably worth waiting for, if you want BFG ATs.

I run the Conti Cross Contacts and really rate them. Quite and smooth on the motorway at 80 mph, great in the snow, and I have set out loads of sections around Walters Arena on them and they took me plenty far enough in a standard truck. If I had a better tyre I would be wanting a roll cage and body protection. They are of course easily on the limit in mud but you wouldn't want to be driving on fields with a trailer in those conditions ar the mess would be shameful. For me, I would only consider a more aggressive tyre is I was either working in a quarry, building site or in woodland, or I wanted to do lots of pay and play stuff in the truck.

I am soon to be buying a 2010 Defender with road biased Grabbers and standard Alloys, now where I live I need something with a bit of grip....most of the roads here are little more than tracks and the soil is slippery clay when wet and fine talcum when dry. On my Pinzgauer I have had Goodyear G90 7.50R x 16 for the last 6 years and they have given sterling service, before that I had them on Series vehicles.....couldn't fault them, road or in the clag, so I would consider them for winter here, but I have never seen them on Landrover Alloys?? where could I find pics?

Land Rover alloys are too wide for 7.50s, which is why you've never seen them on.
You need either the standard or HD steel wheels, at 5.5 and 6.5" rim respectively. I've got the Michelin Latitude Cross on mine and I think they're good. We have the older Michelin XPCs on the farm one and they're fine on that too. Between the two of them they've seen plenty of mud and slime with very few issues. You can buy take off steels with the Michelins pretty cheap. Michelin XZLs are another choice in 7.50. |

Thanks cupboard, I,m a bit of a swear by those G90,s (In fact if I could get them big enough they,d be on my Unimog in 14.00R x20) but my problem is being out there in Eastern Poland......I,ll have to have look around and see if any Local steels will fit loads of UAZ wheels around but they are all 15" and the LADA Niva steels are 16" but will be too thin!!(or maybe not)......or I will have to buy in some thinner alloys from the locality.......I suspect ordering a set of take off Wolfs from UK would cost a packet. Going to be hard to find anything steel here in 16" that is not a tractor wheel though.
