Knocking noise on right turns?
Hi all - thought I'd throw this out and see if anyone has any ideas?

My 110XS has developed a knocking noise which seems to be coming from nr-side suspension, and only happens when I do a right turn. A slow right-turn doesn't cause the noise, but say I'm going round a tight-ish corner at 15mph+ then I will get a single 'knock'. You only get the knock once - like something has hit a panel/ fallen into place? But next time I do a right turn it will always reproduces the single 'knock' again. Odd. The 'knock' is definitely coming from the nr-side of the car, and I'm very sure it comes from the suspension. The car is also pulling to the left - not massively, but certainly noticeable.

I also think (but may just be paranoid) that the steering seems a bit 'loose'. What I mean is, if I'm doing quite a full turn on the steering wheel then it seems to do about 20% of the turn without actually affecting the rate of the turn itself - I know they have crap turning circles, but it seems like 20% of the turn achieves nothing. Like I say, I may be imagining this because I'm being extra cautious about the knock and the pulling to the kerb Neutral

I've only had it 2 wks so went in to my dealer y'day - very helpful and a tech came out with me on a test drive. He heard it as well and suggested bushes? It's going in on Friday to be checked out, but I'm meant to be on Salisbury Plain on Saturday so I'm hoping this is a quick-fix job and not one where they need to strip/ order parts/ re-build and I'm without truck for a weekend Rolling Eyes Simon

Yikes! Just read Naks post "Brand New Puma Pulling To The Left" - hope I'm not about to go on a similar path...(albeit one drifting to the left Whistle ) Simon

check out my thread "any ideas". i have a similar issue. mines going to the dealer on monday, but i have checked absolutely everything apart from engine mounts. my noise is the same, sounds like offside suspension front, but all bushes are ok, springs seated correctly etc etc etc. be good if you update what it is assuming they can find it.

Mmmm....not liking the sound of this too much. The car drives well otherwise, but the pull to the left is becoming more noticeable. And of course, once you know it's there you feel it all the time... Rolling Eyes

It will be very interesting to see how this one develops then. I get on well with my dealer, this is the 4th car I've bought from them, so this could be an interesting test of that relationship... Whistle Simon
