Actually, I wonder if that could be an early indication of the battery getting weak (original battery on a 2009 2.4 Puma).
I checked with the Scangauge and voltage seems quite low, ~11.7V, before the engine fires up. Could that cause the glowplugs not to warm up the chamber enough, thus the rough idling and smoke at cold start? |

I would check each glow plug first.

Shouldn't it log a DTC if a glow plug was at fault?

i have the same thing with my 90. not rough but an uneven idle when driving until it warms ups. i just assumed it was something to do with fuel flow and being cold.

Thanks all for your answer!
Not sure this is related, but the fitting the EGR blanking plate seems to help, or maybe it's the just the weather being warmer lately... |

Sticky EGR no doubt, I got shot of mine.
Best choice imo, not cheap but cheaper in the long run. |

Steve . when you blanked your EGR did you do it at the EGR or the exhaust manifold the other side? I blanked at the EGR and had issues with exhaust fumes. I was recommended to do it at the manifold side but not sure why. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X
