When I first bought my Td5 I thought it was slow to warm up (about 10 mins or so) and the gauge never made it to half way so I fitted a new genuine parts thermostat which made no difference at all ! I think others will confirm that the Td5 seems to be over cooled and the gauge bears little resemblance to the actual engine temperature. The gauge appears to have three readings, cold, normal, and too late ! 2005 Td5 90 XS

I have had thoughts about improving the heater in my Td5 but tend to forget about it all summer ! Have thought about lagging the heater box itself to prevent it being cooled by the blast of cold air coming in between the bonnet and wing and have looked at the feasibility of blocking off the fresh air intake and rigging up a piece of trunking to take warm air from the rear of the radiator possibly making a hole in the shroud to connect it to, to have pre heated air going into the heater box. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Some fit a muff on the front. If your running a larger inter cooler though it sort of defeats the object
![]() Cardboard would improve things ![]() ![]() Though a better option would be thin hardboard |

you measure the warm up time of a TD5 in days not minutes!

My Dads old merc had something similar to that a couple of electric coils that heated the incoming air until the coolant warmed up, you could see them if you looked down the heater inlet in the scuttle, was quite alarmed first time I saw them ! 2005 Td5 90 XS
