Does anyone know which panels on the new defender are steel or need rust proofing. eg fire wall, floor pan etc

I think it's steel bonnet, side doors and back door, bulkhead and of course chassis. So actually quite a lot of steel.

Thanks Pob when I get mine I will run a magnet over all the panels to see which ones I need to rust proof |

Best rustproof all panels as the alloy ones can corrode. 2.4 90 XS

I was looking over mine and pulled off all the door seals and the previous owner had a roof rack with lights and run the wire behind the door seal.
euughhh, the water ran down the wire and corroded the lip the seal sits on! It's cleaned up well but left unchecked this could have been ugly, the other side was rusty too. I wire brushed it and painted rust inhibitor onto it, then smeared waterproof grease all over. GROCKLE, Thanks for the heads up on the stainless screws because I was going to get some. EDIT: Mines a 2000 td5 but no reason you shouldn't be aware Steve |
