Hi John
Did you get anywhere with this ? My TD5 has developed a nasty knocking from the transmission area under load. It is fine in low range which seems a bit strange. I am sure mine is something to do with the x-brake I have just fitted. There is a post on here where somebody thought their DMF had gone but it was the handbrake cable supplied with the x-brake that caused it. I have just ordered a genuine LR cable and hopefully that will sort it. If not, I think I have an expensive job coming up Bob 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !! 2013 Defender 90 CSW - sold 2009 Defender 110 Double Cab - sold 2001 TD5 90 CSW - offroad project - sold to a forum member 2011 Porsche Boxster - for the sunny days ! |

Hi. Didnt get anywhere with this, other than ordered a disco transfer case.
Deep down, I think its the R380 box and the 5th gear going I hope not after seeing the price of a box and fitting from Ashcrofts. At idle I can hear a noise that appears to be coming from the back of the box, like a bearing going. I don't have an x-brake to worry about just yet. £££££ are ringing in my ear! 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |
