Guys,
Looking to fix bumperettes as soon as it stops raining. Any recommendations as to anything I should apply between the two surface to prevent the x member rusting / dis colouring? Many thanks |

I made myself some gaskets from butyl pond liner. Let's hope and pray it fairs better than your EGR blank fitting clusterf**k. Ever thought of perhaps making a plan or taking advice from the forum first? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Some people take the learn by mistake route or learn by one failure at a time. Similarly these people have a time problem always thinking that it is only a five minute job or that looks easy I will have it fixed on in no time. These same people always end up with a couple of nuts, bolts or screws left over and always think the supplier has added extra to the fitting kit in case you lose one, They read torque values and think they are just a rough guide, and adopt the approach of I will tighten the bolt up until I can tighten it no more. For these people no matter what plan or advice is given they will still cock it up. Not that I am saying or inferring anything to anyone |

Struth Wayne you flit around that poor long suffering vehicle of yours tinkering with this and fiddling with that with an outward and somewhat alarming air of blissful ignorance.
I await the inevitable multi page thread concerning your latest [mis] adventure with marginal interest Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. I wouldn't use anything and then you will have less to pick up when they fall off

just use waxoyl it will dry in the joint sealing it preventing water getting in , and prevent any rust in the joint
I done the same in all joints / matting surfaces inc mud flap brackets , tow bar , bumper anything underneath had to remove mud flap brackets after 5 years , as new underneath |

Mal - the egr blanking went very well. Blank fitted and I now even have a spare bolt stored in the gap between engine and starter should I need it in the future. I do need to get a replacement bracket but that said engine seems quite secure and don't expect it to fall off the egr cooler any time soon. Anyhow not that I have a clue as to what you mean re catastrophe....box 2 of 2 got lost Monday but found and delivered today.... steering guard and brake pads....what could possibly go wrong? |

ooooh that makes me wince just looking at it.
Bumperettes and light guards (**in my opinion**) are a great way to ensure that a small knock or scrape does as much damage to the body as possible Saw a nice tomb raider with rear light guards where had they not beed fitted, he'd have been replacing a bulb and a lens, but the guards made sure that he needed to repair 2 body panels, one capping and two more bulbs/lenses! Bumperettes look the same to me! a small knock that the crossmember would shrug off now sends a piece of steel piercing through the side of the rear quarter. Not to mention misjudging a gap past a branch and catching on it just my two cents. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |
