Puma glow plug light goes out she turns engine but wont fire, again tried glow plug light goes out turns engine wont start, waited 30 second or so tried again and it starts and is no problem the rest of the day, its don't this twice in the last month both on cold damp mornings, could it be the glow plugs, also will they all need to be changed or just one. is it expensive. Thanks . Defender 110

The Puma should start without the glow plugs unless it is very cold and even then it should start after some cranking or at least cough. The glow plug harness may need replacing or at the very least you can use electrical contact cleaner on the harness plug. You can also do a resistance test on the glow plug in situ with a DMM which will tell you if the glow plug has had it. Another possible cause is does your Puma have the OEM Landrover alarm fitted? If so it may be worth checking the alarm fuses for corrosion as well as the actual 10AS unit. If the EMS does not receive a valid mobilisation signal from the 10AS via the IPAC the EMS inhibits the injector circuit which means it will crank but not fire. There have been issues in the past with water ingress through the windscreen seal and running down into the 10AS plugs causing contamination of the pins and thus the mobilisation signal is not sent to the 10AS. Does the immobiliser light extinguish when you try to start the Puma? There are numerous posts on here about this issue and without re writing everything try a search and also do a search on a member, merlin who had a similar issue.
