Hi All
My first real post on the Site!
Well I have had two weeks with my newly purchased 2012 Puma Defender so I thought I would post a few opinions. I bought her from a main dealer being a Land Rover approved vehicle so I got a bit of warranty at least, the idea is to keep her for good.
I drove Defenders in the Forces so the Puma is a definite improvement. To put things briefly every time I get behind the wheel I am grinning like an idiot!
The only thing I am still getting used to is the clunky change between 1st, 2nd and 3rd I have it just about mastered the clutch and box now and only fail to get a smooth change on the odd occasion. It had me worried for a while but looking over various post's on this site and others it appears to be the norm with the Puma, any comments or advice on this welcome.
Driving position is in my opinion great, compared to my Navara which I traded in for the Landy it's more comfortable I am 6ft 2" so not overly short and after doing a couple 100 mile plus journeys I got out with out any aches and pains.
I have removed the rear seats so as to reclaim the Cargo space which I need for freighting cargo around, I have had her loaded up a few times with everything from shopping to hacked down bushes, doors, various tools, junk etc and she swallow's everything, the flip up 2nd row of seats are great.
I have also given her a full Dinatrol treatment and had a tow bar fitted.
Fuel consumption is coming in at around 31 to 32 mpg which is better than I expected. I am not too heavy footed but I don't drive that slowly.
Compared to the military Defenders I used to drive she is a revelation but at the same time you can't mistake what your driving. My Daughter loves her, SWMBO is still getting used to her though!
For me I am completely sold and not regretting trading the Navara in at all. I have only been off road down a few farm tracks and over a couple of fields, but you can tell she's superior to the Nav and just ambles over obstacles. I am not really and off roader and mainly need a 4 x 4 as I live out in the sticks.
Anyway looking forward to Defender ownership and will keep you posted and will also get a few pictures uploaded soon.

You could have been telling my story there Howard...
Right down to and including the silly grin each time you plonk yourself behind the steering wheel...
Except I have had mine a tad over four weeks now...
I cannot believe it has taken me this long to live the dream!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Landies, enjoy... Rog...
