Love what you're doing here, keeping every story of each 'bump'.
Are you sharing the story on any other forum? |

Here's another before-and-after to illustrate the difficult process of getting the right mix of old and new; deciding whether to strip and repaint, replace or clean and wipe with an oily rag:

The underside of the bonnet needed nothing more than a clean and a wipe over the frame with some Corrosion Block:

Having a bit of a wobble over the bonnet. It ended up a lot more bare than the rest of it and I was a bit disappointed how it turned out. On the other hand I really don't want to paint it.

The v-dub and hot-rod boys pay a lot of money to get that patina'd look of your bonnet.
I say leave it |

Dont paint that bonnet its part of its history, think this is one of the most sympathetic restorations ive ever seen for a series.
Really do mean it when I say its looking great, keep the updates coming |

An alternative view..... the vehicle is already 55 years old and presumably you would like to think it will see another 55 years. If so, what is so special about it about the condition as it stands now. Compared to say 10, 20, 30 years ago or 10, 20, 30 years from now. Paint the bonnet. It will keep on wearing and just be one more chapter in its history.

Its fine just the way it is. You have done a superb job and half of us here would sell our grannies for a whip like that. You are overthinking it old boy. Time to take a step back and admire your own handywork me thinks.
