Upgrade intercooler: £300
Conservative Remap (~165hp): £300 Shouldn't have any negative long term side effects as long as you don't floor it everywhere, might reduce the lifespan of the clutch slightly but it's worth it. Contact Gary at Alive tunning |

i had an early td5 (99 plate) and went for a new ECU from JE Eng in 2000 at 20k miles. i did another 90k on it with their stage 1 remap, no other map/intercooler mods but egr removed, loved it. good economy and great for towing. Cheers

Another vote for Gary at Alive, I had a tune done on my late Td5, nothing major just a fairly mild stg 1 tune for added mid range torque to help drivability and I also now get better fuel economy too, I did add a bigger intercooler, removed the egr etc at the same time, it's much nicer now. I wouldn't go mad and try getting 200bhp, it's just not needed. Give Gary a call or I'm sure he'll do you a deal at Billing, he's very knowledgable (but knows it!!) |

CSK (Chris) did mine, What an improvement! I have just a remap (stage 2), no intercooler or exhaust changes yet.
I tow horse trailers everywhere (400 mile trips are not uncommon), and the usable torque is fantastic. Also, nobbing off boy racers at the traffic lights in Farmer Giles truck never gets old. |

I would say....
If you have a better inter cooler like allisport, loose the cat, loose the egr, remap the engine and use the BAS bell auto services boost box you will be very happy with the results. The boost box I was very sceptical about but it actually works. Avoid over boosting beyond the 18psi that BAS say to turn it up to as there's a fuse inside the circuitry which blows then it's a new boost box (talking from experience got a bit greedy and didn't listen to BAS advice, bad move... A 2.9 turns steering box from adwest engineering is also a good move less banging your elbows on the window frame, but beware the tighter and higher geared steering boxes only last 2-3 yrs then a new one again from experience. Overdrive from roverdrive would be my final mod suggestion, doesn't mess with your ratios for work, towing or GOLF beating at the lights like fitting a disco transfer box which is obviously tons cheaper. 30mm spacers and turn the steering stops right back in so you can turn on a sixpence. Lumbar support into seats, pump up airbag from exmoor trim retailers and it's an easy job. Defender TD5 110 DC (Silver) Range Rover Vogue TD6 L322 2006> (Black) |
