If you can find someone with a Halfords trade card you can get very good discount.
Their torque wrenches look to be rebranded beta, so a good make. http://defender90xs.blogspot.co.uk/ |

+2 for Halfords one. I have found I need one (or two more wrenches) with lesser torque capacity for some jobs. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Draper for me, does the job as expected, also comes in it's own case.
Not a lot more you could ask for really. |

A little late to the thread but I am replacing my torque wrench after it gave up last week and I have gone for a Bergen one after buying a 1/2" ratchet earlier this year with which I am very impressed with. Not mega money so worth a punt, should be delivered by Friday so we'll see.

We've got a few Britool ones in the farm workshop.
No particular complaints about them and they are pretty old, but I have just had to replace the 1/2" drive one's 1/2" drive square after it got twisted. Quite how you twist it I've no idea, and searching for a replacement online is a challenge. |

Well the one I was wittering on about came in the post this morning. Nice plastic case with a stick on label telling everyone what it is, inside a bog standard click torque wrench with no makers mark on it but saying that, it is what it is, although the scales are in Km and the other metric one there is a conversion table included so I can work out the ft/lbs. Just tried it on my wheel nuts, I have an obsession on torque for those and it was reading the same as my old one so I'm happy with the price of less than £25.

I have a 1/2 inch Teng version that has lasted well, it was on offer from Screwfix at the time. As a bonus it has an angular gauge on the back of the ratchet which is ideal for head bolts etc. Recently bought a Norbar 3/8 torque wrench on recommendation from another forum and like it a lot, very nice quality and a great range of torque settings. Both came with a calibration cert.
The old-style Britool 'break-back' versions are good also. |
