No trouble getting the drop arm off, I take it?

Mine so far has resisted the might of an SP puller and several attempts, next time I'll be using a cheapo puller to see if it does better !

First time with the laser puller from Bearmach. I did soak the splines every day with penetrating fluid for a week.

I’ll pm you. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

Sumo bars on Cool initial thoughts are that the steering has a much better feel, no backlash from the wheels when going over potholes and man hole covers. This makes for a nice vibration free steering wheel.

Certainly looks the part!
Let us know if it reduces the feedback from the road. I understand it reduces the vibration.. But does it take away the feeling from the road? (sorry if it makes no sense... its making no sense reading it back to myself lol... I just cant find the words for the question) Regards

I know what you’re saying, and yes I think it does. The steering wheel is steady and not vibrating as going along. Although this could be more the damper than the bars but I reckon the extra thickness helps to reduce the flex in steering components. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

I think it greatly enhances the feel.

As they're more solid they'll flex less so transmit more feel. It takes some getting used to but the feel is definitely more predictable and enhanced as you're not feeling it through the flex.

Also it's nice not getting after wobble over potholes etc Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

So Ive not really done much since the last update.

The Sumo bars are brilliant and the driving experience I feel is much better with a firmer (more connected) feel to the wheels. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

sorry not sorry! The Sumo bars are brilliant and I'm still loving the feel through the steering wheel!

No further upgrades as of yet, being an adult with a house and stuff sucks sometimes!

Next on the list has got to be stainless brake calliper pistons and a full revamp of wheel bearings and brake pads, discs and Flexi hoses being changed for braided stainless units!

Am seriously considering changing to the later one piece rear shafts too.

Once all that is done ill be back to rear sway bar upgrade and a super pro poly bush kit Cool 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

Which sumo kit did you go for Roy?

So many different ones on Gwyn Lewis site.

Zed, as per a reply from Gwyn to the same question to him just ten days ago:

“Hi

Most customers go for this kit here https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/defende...ess-steel/

1 x SUMO-SS-DEF-DROP-ARM-CONV-KIT-1135-2TRE £262.20 inc vat

if it is LHD i can do a LHD kit, same price.

if you just want a direct bolt on replacement then these 2 will fit straight on.

HD Steel https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/defende...-740-3tre/

Stainless Steel https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/defende...40-3tre-2/

Cheers Grenadier. I've heard mixed reports about Sumo bars but after reading Roy and Grafty's comments may give it a try.
