United Kingdom 2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 USW Corris Grey
Of course the obvious question is why do you want to 'tune' it? A Puma in standard form is a very capable vehicle and quite capable of keeping up with traffic flow even if towing. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW.

I agree MoG, I admittedly do have a map and various modifications but fit for my purpose after a great deal of research and thought and after I had owned it and run it for 18 months or so.
It does make me chuckle why people place so much emphasis on tuning before purchase or even trying efectively the models they are considering. Getting a decent example is a lottery in the first place. Choose carefully and wisely and then see what you want out of it, motorway cruising, towing, offroading and then adapt it to suit your needs if necessary as there are many different tunes out there. BHP is immaterial, torque and where it is readily available is the key in my opinion. Get a lemon and you may find funds diverted into clutch, gearbox and running gear issues and just getting it running will be your priority not eeking out 200bhp. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

It's a very valid point to be fair, and ultimately, I don't really know what I want to achieve yet so you're right on all accounts. It was never going to be a case of shipping it off instantly to be tuned etc. I would certainly run it for a while before making any decisions. Who knows, maybe all I'm after is cosmetic rather than any performance enhancement after all! e.g. I really like the twin crossfire exhausts that the chelsea truck company make/import/whatever... But they are only cosmetic. Twisted are apparently in the process of making something similar which will boost performance a little as well as sound nicer!

Anyway, I've still got to shift the Audi first before I buy anything else!

I agree with K9F, I once had a CB1000 tuned to the nuts and as I hadnt really thought about anything but power it all came on tap in the last 2000 revs and tried to kill me every time it rained. Not good in the UK !

Torque and grunt over BHP......

Yep - quite a feat going from complete novice to guru in double quick time - especially to those who were not around to witness the transformation and endless brain picking that aided it.

Anyway back on topic...

Crafty1980,
Your best bet is to get out and actually try as many examples of the models which are of interest before making up your mind what is best for your particular circumstances and before choosing this weeks must have accessory. There's little more to add other than what's already been said on here and other forums over the years. If you are used to older Land Rovers then you might [or might not Wink] be pleasantly surprised just what a good standard Puma is like out of the box. Steve.

Crafty,

I too went cosmetic prior to performance enhancement. So many toys, so much choice. Enjoy it, take your time and it will eventually all come nicely together in your own unique way. That is one of the true advantages of owning a Defender. Some will hate it, others love it but it is only to you that it really matters.
