Downgrading windows
I've already had some problems with an electric window not opening (at least it was stuck closed).

Thinking of possible problems in future, does anyone know how easy it is to convert electric windows to a winding ones?

Cheers

Easier than the other way. Just buy manual mechanisms a winder handle and drill a hole in the door card. Then it's bolt together.

If you do the job place a piece of cardboard on the top of the door frame and with the window shut use some gaffer tape over the cardboard to keep the window closed. Makes the job a lot more easy if you are not trying to keep the window from dropping.

One other point to note there is one fixing bolt that has an elongated hole, this bolt is used to adjust the window glass so that it it lies vertical in the top channel. loosely tighten all the bolts and finally adjust the glass so that it is vertical at the top then tighten up the adjusting bolt then fully tighten all the other bolts.

Matt, I recently fixed Russtybox's electric windows. Two of which had issues. Took me no longer than 30 minutes for the two. Usual culprit are the cables in the door umbilical breaking (as it was in this case). I wouldn't worry about them too much. Sounds to me you've a bad dose of 'Caterhamitis.'
