Relay and fuse for the ignition switched supply to pin 6 of the 12S (or pin 10 of the 13 pin) tow socket.
Or relay for front auxiliary lights. Its amazing how many different locations the battery box these relays are fitted considering the fitting instructions show where to mount them. [edit] Looking at the wiring colours off the relay, it is for the tow electrics, kit fitting instructions https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...20TDCi.pdf On my 110 whoever fitted the kit had not even cut the tapes to make the loom the correct length |

That looks to be in much the same position as the relay for my towing electrics - LR kit & fitted by a main dealer.

Thanks for your replies. Still looks like a botched job to me as it's very awkward to remove jack handle etc.
Myn. Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast. |

That's why I try and do all of my own mods and maintenance.
The fewer dealer visits the better. |

If your vehicle is brand new, and dealer fitted, I'd go back and grab the service manager by the ear or the nose and drag him out to have a look at it, then demand that they send the kid who originally fitted it back to the creche and get a grown up to do the job.

And to think when I bought the wiring kit for my previous Defender my local dealer had the cheek to say "it's better to let us to fit it in case of problems later".
Needless to say I fitted it myself. |

Trouble with the standard of main dealer work is the management not the lads in the shop. All Mr dealer cares about is completing the job in the shortest possible time with the least amount of expense. Get the fitters to do the job in half the book time but invoice the full hours to the relevant cost center. Looks good on the spreadsheets you see..........sad but very true.

Or worse it could have been fitted by a sub contractor, (some of them) can be right cowboys.
There`s a lot to be said for doing the job yourself, I had to re do the alarm on mine as scotch locks on a ignition feed aren't a good idea. It cost the previous owner £ 450.00 to fit the alarm. Edit, I`ll agree with fatboy slim, the dealer see`s pdi and towbars as a money earner to be done as quick as poss. This I know only too well. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |
