steering box and panhard rod question
As per my new build thread, my first hurdle is the steering box - I think it needs replacing. can anybody recommend a supplier - I guess new is the way to go? Or do I service it?

Secondly, the panhard rod bracket.... Having bolted it on ( to the rod first, then the chassis, the top won't bolt tight to the chassis... As if the panhard rod is to short. What have I done wrong? Bolting it up will surely pull the axle too far to the offside. also, is there no bush or something for the lowest of its three holes? V8 90...WIP

I got my steering box done by these people http://www.4x4gearboxes.co.uk/

Mine was leaking where the bottom arm comes out. 3 years on, no leaks. 1999 Defender TD5 110

LR steering boxes are manufactured by Adwest of Reading, who used to supply replacement and reconditioned units to public and trade alike.

I have in the past been exceptionally disappointed with a succession of "Genuine Parts" steering boxes I had to fit on my Disco 2 (all the recon boxes were substantially worse than the original, with one lasting less than a month), and would personally be wary of buying one unless I knew who built it. If I needed one I would go to Adwest.

I went down to them a few years back and bought one over the counter. Direct from the people who make them. no issues whatsoever.
