2012 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Keswick Green

Idle Jack

Can anyone tell me how to disable the idle jack? vehicle is 2012, 110.

Can be done. Simply disconnect plug on top of transfer box.... much better

Grey plug with a connection to the the area around the centre diff. There is another more important looking connection to the main gearbox. As far as I can tell there is no difference in the vehicles behavior except that the idle speed doesn't change automatically when in low range.

I don't understand why you want to do it as I think it's the only improvement from an td5.

But yes by disconnecting the plug the ecu doesn't know you are in low gear so will not use the anti stall mode.

It won't affect the anti-stall at all, just the idle jack, which is a totally different and independent thing.

Idle jack is a safety feature to prevent you coming a cropper on very steep descents, where the very low 1st or reverse gear will cause loss of traction. I have to admit I still don't understand why anyone would want to disable it, but the method described above will do just that.
