1987 Defender 90 300 Tdi HT Epsom Green
2.4 engine mileage
Looking at a few second hand hi caps with mileages between 5,000 and 59,000 with prices to match, was just wondering what mileages these engines are doing currently, and if there are problems, what mileage do they start to play up ( have noted that there are a few d3's on e bay currently all advertising they have had new engines at some stage under warranty, so just thought I would get some feed back on the tdci)

Merry Christmas to all

Know of a 200,000 hard towing engine, no problems but 2 gearboxes....can't complain Very Happy Some early engines had problems but later ones redesigned and are good engines. Same conclusion mentioned in LRO this month Wink

thats very impressive mileage KOTS
Only the other day a neighbour mechanic put a new water pump in my little Peugeot and of course had a good look at the Puma saying that he'd worked on many a tdci Transit. He said that in his opinion the 2.4 is tough as old boots due to its heavy duty components providing you change the oil on the dot and use only branded diesel
