Hi lads. Does anyone know if the paint on steps is covered under warranty?. At 2 years old the paint/powder coating is coming off in chunks.

I bet your dealer will say the flaking is caused by unattended stone chipping and wear and tear. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

If that is the case, whip 'em off and get them zinc washed and powder coated. Mine too the finish is coming off at the end adjacent to the wheel. Replacement under warranty would just be a 'sticking plaster' fix as another couple of years down the line you'll be very likely to be in the same boat anyway. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

If it was fit as standard it will have a full warranty. They do a full 'rust' check on services so should have picked up and stone chips then and rectified them then

Agreed. Had my rear step replaced on warranty because it was rusting. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

You will find the step wont be covered if it wasnt fitted at purchase.
There are bits of rust on mine ive just dealt with myself. All parts get 12months warranty. There are bits of corrosion across mine i noticed on bits i havent coated - like the rear diff (pan and diff itself) prop shaft etc. Im drawing up a list for it to go in soon. To be honest i would treat any corrosion myself and quickly.
Im not sure they do rectify them - they are definately supposed to check for corrosion, but not fix...you have to be asked/or ask for it to be done. Mike |
