Scotland 2000 Defender 90 Td5 SW Baltic Blue
Clutch Replacement, anything else i should do while its out?
Going to replace the clutch and Dual Mass Flywheel on my 2000 TD5 defender, got a trip to the alps coming up in August and it's right at the top of the pedal and have had it slip a couple of times making a quick pull away from junctions.

Anyway is there anything else i should look at doing when it's out, going to drop the gearbox rather than the engine as there is a bit of weep-age around the transfer box, so hoping it's just a seal needing done..

Diff Gasket Rover Axle (Britpart) 7316
Oil Seal Rear Main OEM LUF100420G
Oil Seal Transfer Box Output Handbrake (Corteco) FTC4939G
Head to Exhaust Manifold Stud TE108051L
SPIGOT BEARING BUSH LFB500050G
DMF bolts ER6781 (cant find anywhere with stock so assume the number might be wrong)
slave cylinder FTC5202G
571161 Fork Insert
576203 Staple
576723 Rod Clip

Anything else? I'm assuming it wont need a new fork?

Also was going to go with a new DMF over the solid one piece one, any counter arguments to this?

you can decat the downpipe and the performance is amazing. you will need to remove a chassis cross member for the gearbox and t-box to be lowered. might as well pull off the downpipe and do that. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At �125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island.

If you decat you'll probably regret it when it fails the next MOT! (See other threads on this subject).

If you're basically happy with the DMF, stick with it in preference to a tradition single mass conversion which does have some undesirable side effects.

Do not use any part supplied or made by Britpart however. You'll be very miffed when it fails within minutes or a few hundred yards of fitting and the job needs doing again! Use genuine or OEM parts only (and don't believe Britpart's OEM claims either, I think they come from the QA reject bin of the OEM).

Edit: Why do you need a diff gasket for the clutch job, or is it simply another job you're doing at the same time? LR no longer uses gaskets round the diff anyway, but now specifies RTV sealant instead.

Thanks for the replies.

It's a 2000 model so doesn't have a cat, but the performance is still poor Rolling with laughter

Occasional britpart things are not bad, but yeah not worth the risk on something that's a big job.

Rear diff is dribly too so will re-seal it while im there.
