Wipers
Today I noticed my wipers weren't working as they should. Intermittent is working fine, as is normal and fast speed. When you nudge the stalk up for a single wipe, the wipers stop when you release the stalk, same when you turn off normal speed. When I turn off intermittent they park normally. My initial thought was that the park switch had failed but intermittent is still working correctly. unless there are two park stitches? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

there's only the one switch, so that is a little strange. Faulty stalk?

Try spraying grease down the front of the wiper spindle (from outside) as the wheel boxes may be seizing.

Definitely not seized, new wiper boxes and cable put on a few months ago. They aren't slow at all, just don't park themselves unless on intermittent Confused 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Swapping the wiper motor is pretty quick so i would do that first.

There is a swict in the motor that senses the parking position . when i had to bang on the windscreen to get the wipers moving i knew it was time to change the motor.

Did you use genuine wheel boxes? I didn't at first and they lasted two weeks so replaced everything with genuine and no problems since.

Most likely park switch and just coincidence that the intermiitent is turning them off in the parked position.

There's not much else it can be.

Genuine wheel boxes yes, changing the motor seems pretty extreme to me, I'll start with the cheapest thing and work my way up I think Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I'd say park switch, when it went on mine it was entirely random as to whether anything worked or not. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

On my Td5 I had a similar issue that they would park on intermittent, but not on wipe. So thought it could not be park switch, tried new stalk, new relay, no good. Then they stopped parking at all, new park switch, all good.

Exactly same happened to mine about 2 months ago and it was the park switch, what you will probably find is that the intermitent will fail soon also. Michael was just telling me a story about a friend of his who slept with a land rover, lonely nights in the desert..

I have been too busy to sort anything yet but was the park switch available from Landrover or did anyone have to buy one off the internet?

I'd rather get a genuine switch if possible Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
