If you're looking for a proper water resistant snorkel then the Safari is probably best out of the box. If that's not a prime concern, or you're prepared to put a bit of effort in to improve the sealing, then it basically comes down to which one you like the look of.
The only proviso to that is that Pete Bell has demonstrated on his rolling road that the modern looking Mantec (known as the plastic jobby!) saps a significant amount of hp. Personally, I went with the plastic Mantec one as used on the G4 vehicles. I like the combination of the traditional look and modern materials: Click image to enlarge Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? I like that too.
Point to consider, the rigid tube snorkels might not accommodate a roll cage if you decide to fit one in the future. Which is the quietest? Thanks all for the replies, I got to say that I like the Mantec as fitted to the G4, as you say kinda traditional but modern. 2008 Defender 110 XS CSW

Having now brought and fitted both mantec and a safari I can definitely say test the safari is by far the better product. Better quality, great clear instructions, with loads of photos, all required parts supplied, clear instructions on how to seal the rest of the system so it's a snorkel not rai.
Very very nice product Andy |

Do you think the Safari would allow more air to be rammed down it (at speed) and therefor give you more horsepower? (Vs the Mantec which looks like it relies on sucking...) ???

Air must be rammed down the safari, how helpful I'm not sure, but mine goes well with safari one fitted.
