Considering how much oil tdis tend to have in the air box, I can't see it doing much!

ERR1471 about £12 if you shop around.
I can not yet recommend this as I'm trialing it at the moment. I got the idea of a Mitsubushi L200 forum. I will post how the trial goes after a few thousand miles, it will not be as effective as the Provent as it is a simple device with no filter but it is cheap and fairly small and may well remove some of the oil that normally passes to the intake, also my landy is very low miles so may not be passing much oil yet anyway. I did have a Provent but didnt fit it due to space constraints, they are clearly quality bits of kit, but I sold it to K9F as space was so tight and he wanted one. Thought Id give this a go. re 200tdis having oil in the air box they may well have some oil get to the air box but may have much more without this? all the best Rob DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

well after driving about 50 miles locally I thought the 200tdi one was naff as nothing had appeared in my drain tube!.
However yesterday I did a 220 mile round trip to Wales and back and I can confirm that there is about 8-10 mm of oil appeared in the bottom of my drain off tube (I used 8mm ID clear plastic pipe for a very short drain off pipe). This confirms that the 200tdi separator does work. Clearly I have no idea how much oil is still passing into the inlet hose but I have stopped some. When I get a chance I will replace that short plastic pipe with a longer length of rubber pipe going down towards the chassis and will confirm the results over a longer trial. Full cost of mod about £20 so far. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

The reason Tdi's sometimes have oil in the air box is because the separator gets gunked up and doesn't separate the oil as efficiently so it condenses in the pipe and drips down into the air box because the breather intake comes in at the top. When the engine isn't running and it cools it just drips down into the air box. I always flush mine out when I do my 12000 mile service so just dump some petrol through it to clean it then blow it through. I never have more than a slight haze of oil in mine. Without the separator it would be much worse. |

Excellent sounds like this may be a worthwhile mod then, I will continue to monitor how mine performs on a TDCI.

Landy Andy you may struggle fitting with an XS have a look at my fitting process as available space is extremely tight in an XS.
I bought mine off of a member who struggled to find space on his. From page 4 to 5 this thread. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Are these all sold?
Sorry to ask but I want to do this mod to my 2006 Td5, it's in great nick at the moment and I want to keep it that way, if I buy a Provent, what other 'bits' will I need to fit it, are the pipework and reducers easy to get hold of? |
