Mine are standard fit and moisture does get in. I'm not happy about it but not a lot I can do. I will go for LED soon though so hopefully will sort that.
There are some very very poor lights out there though and Genuine are pricey. For a Puma clear side repeaters and just front indicators (XS clear) are getting on for £100. Expensive yes, but if I had to change I would pay it, but LED will be for me. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

Sale of Goods Act - not fit for purpose.
Doesn't matter what excuse they come up with, could be a duff batch they've had or fake or anything else. Don't be fobbed off 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

There should be a foam gasket that goes between the lamp and the body to help keep water out. Thay do not come with the lamp however and need transfered from your old lights. Even then you will find that sometimes water gets into the lamp. I recently fitted a set of wipac lights to a friends 90(not bought from bolt on bits)and within a week or so condensation had formed in the lights. I know that some people have drilled a small drain hole in the bottom of the lamp to let excess water drain out!

I don't think there was another gasket around the lights, I'll have to check (if not the old ones still weren't full of water lol), they're saying they're a manufacturers spec part and therefore cant do anything about water ingress, other than blathering them with sealant .
I presume if they're left in 'as is' they will balls up the electrics? The other option she says is to buy their LED version, as this is rated as being water resistant, but I'd also need a relay as well as the four lamps, all in for 4 LEDs and relay would be another £90 Last edited by Hock on 3rd Dec 2013 4:31pm. Would be fit and forget though! I've heard good things about them, genuine is basically just the same pice but incandescent. No Guts, No Glory.

I have Bolt on Bits RDX led lamps and they are excellent! £119 for a set of 8 lamps and led flasher unit. When I went to fit mine to my 08 Puma I found that both rear stop/tail lamps had water in them and both male connectors on the back had rusted away due to water ingress. The RDX lights look standard but are very bright, well sealed and a very worthwhile upgrade. Doesn`t help you of course if you have just spent £30 on new lens!

I've dropped them a line to see if they'll put the cost of these units against an LED set as I don't want to be driving about with the risk of them blowing at any time ........... Fingers crossed they may be amenable

Wipac light units are notorious for leaking round the join between the lens and the body (it's usually here the water gets in, not through the back).
I have successfully sealed this join using polystyrene cement, as used for model kits, since the lights are made from ABS. |

Even if they can be made watertight with sealer/glue etc a month old set of lights shouldn't leak! I would keep trying to get a replacement set 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I agree with Martin lights are not designed to work half full of water....not fit for purpose, demand a refund.
Your idea for an exchange on a set of their LED s is a compromise they should be happy to accept. I've bought a set of their LEDs and am very satisfied with the service and the product. You could of course twist their arm a little and advise of your participation on this forum and how after sales customer service is one of the regular topics discussed. Not all publicity is good publicity. DRW I built a garage for my Mini With a place for everything and everthing in its place. Ten years down the line there's a Mini in there somewhere, and all's where it should be!!!! Ho hum |

I called them back and got the same response, they all let water in, even from the factory so cant do anything.
When I suggested they could put them against a set of LED's they said they would give me 50% of the purchase price back against LED as these lights are now 'used' and they cant do anything with them. And the LED's are, I quote 'more waterproof than the original items' I don't want to throw good money after bad so I'm just going to write them off, no more custom from me in the future I'm afraid! |

A good product will get good reviews and sell well.
A poor quality product won't get good reviews and be avoided. With either, we are a bit like sheep. If it's good we tend to copy others and purchase and use. If poor we tend follow the advice given of poor quality. So indeed not all publicity is particularly anything with problems that do or can occur with the item. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

My led lights from there lasted just over 12 months then the insides rotted away.
Now I stick with cheap wipac and normal bulbs! |
