I know this is early days, but I have been speaking with Lrmaniac about going over to Portugal for the big Landrover festival, which should be in September. Exact dates to be confirmed. I would most likely get the ferry to Spain and drive down from there. Would anyone else be up for coming along? 2011 110 USW

Would be nice to have a convoy. I better buy a CB before then, eh? 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

I *think* the show is over a weekend. Give a day or so travel each way, I was thinking something like Tuesday one week to Tues/weds the following week. However, as my partner has family in Lisbon we would want to go visit them at least for one day. 2011 110 USW

If we went from Calais it would be 2-3 days in a Defender, I was hoping to go to Bilbau? 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Have you checked ferry prices? Last time we travelled it was over £1k on the ferry, although that was with a trailer. But I would be interested in a trip |

Haven't had one since I was a lad and wanted to be a trucker after watching Convoy |

Your be looking at about £850-£900 for the ferry, but drive is a least two days, unless you just like auto routes for hour after hour. Not my idea of fun.

This is the purpose of the thread, to work out what folks want to do. My understading was that the ferry was more like £500ish.
I am hoping lrmaniac will give us some comments regarding his trip to the UK last year. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Ferry has gone up a far bit. It is now Brittany ferries from Portsmouth and from Plymouth, so they have the monopoly, and can charge accordingly.
The ferry is not a bad cost but then you need rooms. You can book early to get cheap rooms, otherwise just expensive ones left, but when they have all sold they will let you book with no rooms needed. There is no cheap option these days with price of fuel, tolls, etc. Andy |

The ferry always seam to be a tad dearer than driving down,, they have done there sums
The saving is not worth the wear and tear on the crew, let alone the vehicle Seams to be better to book early, Am on the Portsmouth/Sandantar Friday,, just checked, and saved £85 odd, by booking january California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |
