Hi!
I do hope you can come! It's a three days show. Dates are not available yet, but should be within the first 15 days of September! It's not famous for it's trader stands - there aren't many, but it is a great way to spend three days among LR fans! Lots of beer, bbq, off road trails to do, and some very nice Land Rovers to see! If you can spend some more days here, you might enjoy it - 800km of coast with hundreds of sunny beaches, or if you stay in the interior lots of historical villages to see and hundreds of off road tracks to do! I went there - UK - last year and ended up taking the ferry in Calais only. From Santander or Bilbau it was way too expensive (although I was towing a caravan). It was cheaper to drive through France, even with tolls and diesel. But I guess that if you're just driving the Defenders it might be worth it... I took two and half days to get to Calais ( 12 hrs driving, stoping only to put diesel) - if you don't bring anything attached you might travel faster... As soon as there are more details I'll post them here... Dover Calais is very cheap and frequent so that would be the way we would go (- even when its only about an hour to the Plymouth - Santander ferry from home ... its a big savings -)
This way we would have all the north of Spain and Western France to tour and explore .. But we would not rush - we'd potter down stopping often and free camping all the way. taking about 2-3 weeks to do the trip. (pondering about tagging along at the moment but waiting to see what the dates are to fit in with work ..) I think ideally we would want to look at a max of about 8-9 days overall, which would be if we did Dover - Calais. Rooftents a must and park up when we feel like it. 2011 110 USW

Hi
The "Land Rover Ibérico" Show willl be held next September (from 5 to 7th), on the outskirts of Gouveia: https://maps.google.pt/maps?q=Gouveia&...ia&z=7 As I said earlier, you can arrive a few days or weeks before, head to beach or the countryside, then come to the event on your way back! Or arrive at that date and then stay a few more days to relax and enjoy the weather wherever you wish! As usual it should have a Trial track - open to everyone who wats to test their engines and suspension set up! , one or two off road tracks to do, maybe a dozen of trader stands, and lots of time to kill at a swimming pool or around a bbq and a few bears!! You can bring kids (there are some stuff to entertain them - swimming pool, rapel, etc) and dogs (if they're not trained and educated must bring them on a leash). I'll be posting more info as we know it! As found in another post, there is now a new ferry service, ldlines.co.uk and prices are very reasonable; Santander £399 return.

The ferry is relaxing, but can be longer and more expensive than just driving down.
Another option is ferry to St Malo, but again, the cost can outweigh the cost of fuel. I've looked into driving the Motorhome to the Algarve on a few occasions, everytime, it works out cheaper and around the same time as just driving down from Calais. If I'm not mistaken the show is cheap... I think it's 25€/person, and you get a tshirt, stickers and access to the camp site... It's a two day show, but you can arrive on Friday... It will be (can confirm later) from 30th May till 1st of June... It's a very nice show, more rough than the "Iberico", and less familiy orientated!, not many atractions besides LAnd Rovers and offroading!.... It's a national show. The Iberico is a more international show... A few traders, and club stands (Series, Camel Trophy and others) , a very nice Trial track!! (open to everyone during the day, and for competitors at night), one or two roadbooks around the neighborhood (one soft and one more technical)... And of course, lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of beer and BBQ!!!!
