manual i take it with ref to the gear stick and an auto is cable actuated so you can put it anywhere.
you will find the bell housing is longer on the Disco unit meaning the gearstick will be further back, you can get around it by using a Def bell housing, or put the V8 to a Def gearbox or an auto! i wouldn't go bigger than 235/85s with a 1.2 t box on a 90 even with a V8!! great thanks for your reply. what diesel gear box would i need to fit a v8 using an adapter plate.

i dont know.
my experience is either V8s and LT85s as per std LR fit or V8s and Autos or diesels and autos into 90s. would a std def lt77 short bellhousing not go onto a disco v8 if an adapator ring was used (if needed?) to connect the flywheel housing to bellhousing?
