I just fitted one myself last week. It's pretty good but I might re-upholster the lid at some point with a bit more padding.
This is what I did:
Take off the old plastic tray
Take the bottom carpet out of the cubby
Drill 4 holes in the bottom of the cubby (taking care to choose places that don't clash with anything below)
I had to make a small cutout at the back of the cubby's supporting bit for a bolt that got in the way
Position the new cubby up against the rail at the back of the seats and mark the hole positions on the panel below
Cut holes in the rubber matting in the appropriate places and double check the hole positions
Take up the panel to make rivnut fitting easy
Drill the holes in the panel and fit 4 rivnuts - I used M8 as I have some lying around but they're probably overkill
I sawed about 5 mm off the bottom of the supporting rectangle on the bottom of the cubby to lower it and give more clearance on the range selector
I made up some spacers to go on the bolts so that I didn't just bend the floor panel when tightening it all up
Bolt panel back down
Bolt cubby on - think the bolts were something like 40 or 50mm long, I used some nice big washers on the MDF
Job done
Took me about half an hour but I was faffing around a bit. Only real downside of my method so far is the lumps in the bottom of the box because of the bolt heads but I suppose you could use countersunk machine screws or something like that if it bothers you.
