Defender_uk - totally don't agree with you there! The advert is personal preference but with regards to landrover losing the plot- ?!?!?!

Would you rather they were losing money and making unreliable crap like 20 years ago? They're a shining example to other marques as to what can be done if you put the cars first. The whole country (and rest of the world for that matter) loves what they're doing nowadays...

See here: http://news.sky.com/story/1193864/jaguar-l...orld-sales ... hardly 'losing the plot' Cheers, David

Yep...losing the plot....

Reliable? Well maybe not quiet as bad as they were, but....

Just got my 25K miles Defender back after eight weeks at the dealer because neither the dealer or LR could work out what was wrong.
Just got my 2013 RRS back from the dealer for a knackered heater fan.

A 2013 RRS recovered there yesterday by the AA. Another in there is a two year old RRS with a seized turbo.

Defenders still leaking and poor build quality. RRE miles off the advertised MPG...etc

Yes improved on quality. Yes lovely feeling cars, and I still love them to bits and wouldn't have owt else...but yes...they have lost the plot.

They have thrown away the heritage of true tough off roaders, whilst trying to cling to it like mad...trying to convince themselves actually...

How many ANRRS and ANRR will still be running in twenty years? All lovely to look at, nice to drive and all electronic.....They are losing their roots if they haven't already. They are in damage of losing the farming community and have lost the military...neither make enough money. Whilst I want them to make profit, of course, all they are going for now is money.

Shows in even the little things like the pathetic new Gear that they have produced....it is all through the marque...a great shame. 2020 First Ed 110.

Given the range of vehicles that LR has to offer and what seems to me to be a degree of repositioning of various models in that range (I don't follow all this Defender replacement mullarky much) I think this is simply just a seasonal brand awareness campaign.

If you stuck a particular model in each scenario depicted, you perhaps water down the 'You can do all this and more in your Land Rover' message and it becomes. 'You can go to the rugger in your Disco and if you're not wealthy enough we offer the Freelander for the rest of you oiks for when you walk the footpaths' (No offence meant by that - am exaggerating for effect)

Perhaps the model specific stuff comes along when JLR have worked out how they wish to position them, particularly in light of the impending demise of the Defender as we know it.

Times change and peoples attitudes change and JLR has to adapt to that which, I think it's done pretty well and the overall sales would seem to support that. Quality/Reliability/heritage etc, sadly, seem secondary these days to 'Lifestyle aspirations' and so, their advertising has to follow that path.

Overall, I liked it. Noticed 'Go Beyond' has become 'Above and beyond' at the end too.... Is this new??... or, as usual, am I behind the curve ?

Mind you. I like the Cillit Bang adverts too Shocked Shocked Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

Maybe it doesn't feature any vehicles because all the 2wd Evoque and Freelander owners might decide to go and get stuck off road.....

You can't beat it: -

This ad got me onto the idea of a Land Rover - I was a kid at the time!
