Lamorna cove car park Cornwall...warning
Just had a fantastic holiday for new year in Cornwall having travelled the 360 mile journey from lancashire .
A word of warning for those who like me are sometimes a little lazy parking their 110 .
Imagine the scene....lovely sunny day, deserted car park except for one other car with the driver similarly enjoying the view...
reversed the defender to watch the waves come in and take some holiday pics.
Only going to be there for 10 mins so not paying £1.50 to park.
Only turned my back for 5 mins and a fixed penalty ticket was on my widescreen !!!! Big Cry
Couldn't for the life of me work out who put the ticket there as nobody was about except some bloke sat in a car across the car park....
Went back to the house and went onto the website to pay the £60 fixed penalty and did some "googling" ...
It's not a council car park......the guy sat in the car is the owner he put the ticket on !!!!!

If you get caught, do your homework, the internet is a fantastic resource.....
The website set up for payment had the "photographic evidence" with a time and date stamp 3 hours inaccurate....
I emailed them direct and told them they had cocked up and I wasn't paying......
Got one back saying that on this occasion it was quashed...... : Laughing
If anyone els gets a ticket or got one recently, check the photographs on the payment website...could save you a lot of money

If you google lamorna cove, some tell similar tales with more colourful language !!!!

Were there proper signs in the car park about charges and penalties for non-payment..?

Cheers

To be fair, yes there is.....but I didn't expect to have to pay when it was seemingly almost deserted on a bank holiday...
Seemingly the charges are 24/7 365 days a year...
The signs are made to look as if put there by council, but on closer inspection it's private land.

Just read a load of stuff about the car park
Looks like he writes the ticket before you've even turned the engine off
As it said steer well clear Thumbs Up
Glad you got away with it due to a bit of research
I'm sure others just pay It's good to be back from the dark side

There is some excellent advice on money saving expert.....all sorts of avenues to explore to fight someone who borders on unscrupulous.....
He was featured on bbc "watchdog"
He has to Abide by British parking association rules and doesn't in the first instance if not wearing uniform....
If he doesn't abide by those rules he cannot legitimately get your details from DVLA....
But he clearly preys on the unsuspecting who will just pay ....

yes been done there to.
we were fishing on the pier there ( before the lump got knocked out of it ) . we were the only ones there weather bit crap walked back to car to go 10 mins over ticket time and had a parking ticket .would throught they could have shouted us to do ticket again ,
another time there we brought a ticket just sat looking out ,weather ok and there was a woman walking around just looked like tourist all dressed up sunglasses etc but noticed she kept walking up and down and she was checking the cars got out to see what was going on she was ticketing .

when I spoke to mate in tackle shop I said we had been to lamorna and his first words were 'did you get a ticket'
he said it was a firm from up north that had contact for a few car parks down there and we're really pi**ing the locals off

always used to go there whenever down Cornwall but not now

Hmmmm ... maybe pay him a visit one day .. Whistle

Its gents like this that give visitors a bad impression of Cornwall Evil or Very Mad
How sad that he has to sit in his car in the cold on winters bank holiday waiting to catch someone at something that he probably does himself when he thinks he can get away with it..
maybe he has no friends .... I cant understand why .... Embarassed Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html

The great thing about most Cornish costal carparks is you ticket is valid in all of them.
You don't have to pay every time you park.

if there owned by the national trust you can . but can only think of two where we go regular ,that's the lizard or cape Cornwall so not really worth it for us .

I love Cornwall ,been going all my life but things are changing down there , can't park here and there ,charging for parking when you only stopping to look at view etc

Godrevy, Kynance Cove, Chaple Porth are a few of our favourites, but there are loads more...maybe more on the North Coast, but we always seem to find one wherever we go. They are marked on the OS map so easy to find.

Perhaps we're just lucky..Wink

cheers

I live 2 minutes around the coast from this car park. They are well known for being there pretty much every day of the year and ticketing. Think they were on Watchdog a little while ago. Think the same company also does the parking for a car park down on the Lizard.

To be fair, I believe it may be that the owner of the cover wants them there. If the prices in the cafe are anything to go by they are certainly out to get as much money from the cove as possible. Yet the harbour wall hasn't been repaired in years and is now being reclaimed by the sea. Rolling Eyes

when I was there and the young woman dressed like tourist was walking round checking the tickets on cars we were going to go in the cafe . but left as it was winding me up watching the money grabbing going on , so the cafe lost my custom because of the parking and has ever since .

there used to be years ago a old boy in a hut where the ticket machine is now and if weather was bad he would charge half price if you were going down fishing etc .. old saying springs to mind half a loafs better than none

they don't get my money any more
