I add 2SO to both the A3 and the landy. The Audi being a PD engine runs much quieter with 2SO, the landy only a little bit. --

It is good to see that there are now some people who have been using it longing enough and for high mileage and then stripped the engines and found that they are in better condition than would be expected. Whether this is down to the 2 stroke is not for certain but the evidence would suggest it is.
I continue to put 1:200 mix in my 300tdi and it is so much quieter and smoother. I buy it in large quantities (25 litres) and then this works out much cheaper (about 75p per tank). |

We have a TDV6 D3 and a TD5 D2 here and both run with added 2SO, we see benefits in the running of both in terms of reduced engine noise and slight increases in MPG. No side effects noticed yet. Paul Redding

A response to a question in the workshop Q&A section of this months LRO magazine states that:
"with no independent, verified and repeatable trials carried out on 2 stroke oil in diesel ....adding it to the tank...would be tantamount to pouring in a load of snake oil" Is anyone aware of any suitably qualified boffins having produced scientific data to support its use? I am currently sat on the fence, but with no desire to trash my engine as a result of 'self medicating'. '57 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon 2.4tdci |

There was a Castrol recall a few month back due to water contamination and they chipped in on the thread...
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic93996.html page 3..... Castrol just called me back - apparently potential contamination is parts per million and not so much of an issue when mixed with fuel, as pointed out prior, there is probably condensation in everybody’s tanks - problem more related to auto-lube systems on 2-strokes. Interesting conversation re. 2T benefits - technician believed can allegedly help EGR carbon build up. Paul Redding +44 (0)23 8052 2760 www.advancedfactors.co.uk Site Sponsor for Aftermarket Parts |

I believe there was a formal test on adding 2 Stroke carried out by Mercedes. I don't know the results, but I would have thought Mercedes would have got some pretty good data either way on the technical benefits or otherwise of 2 stroke and diesel.

Anyone seen a Mercedes diesel car, van or truck with a two stroke oil reservoir in the engine bay or a pre-mix ratio printed on the fuel filler flap?
No? That'll be your test results then '57 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon 2.4tdci |

That said, have you ever known LRO to be 100% correct on anything? |

I can't see it as being in the car and fuel companies interests to do the testing. If it came out in favour of 2SO then those companies would be very red faced. It would be effectively saying their engines and fuels aren't good enough.
As far as my research is concerned I have been using it and the engine was much quieter and smoother. I was very surpirsed and was really enjoying it. Told everyone so. But then two weeks ago I had the battery off for a couple of days and after reconnecting it the engine is running as bad as is has. It is clattery and rattly and gutless. I am really disappointed with the vehicle. I can't get any traction with the dealer and its so frustration as for a couple of months on the 2SO it was so good. |
