No reverse light
I have put my tdci onto a galv chassis and have. Lost my reverse light in the process. I can't find any trapped wires or fuses gone. Bulb is fine. There is no power sent to the light unit when reverse is selected. Can anyone help me? svx tdci (project)

Don't know about the light setup at the rear but is there an earth problem?

Especially changing chassis etc? Cheers, David

If there's no power then it's unlikely the earth.

Most likely is that the switch has died or hasn't been installed correctly. Can easily check whether there is power going to the switch too, to rule that out before taking the switch out.

Only trouble is the switch is a sod to get too! My reverse light is an odd thing with an incandescent bulb in it it works on and off but mostly doesn't, with an LED in it it works all the time.
Only trouble is the LED bulb in there is rubbish so thinking if upgrading soon.
That's with earth and power there too because I've checked it. Rolling Eyes $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Oh, never seen a PUMA gearbox, so figured it would be similar to the old LT77s, in terms of access

No, it's worse. Access to the switch can be achieved by removing the cubby or tray between the front seats and removing the panel in the seat box. Then with some difficulty you can either see or touch the switch but not do both at the same time!

I had a reversing light problem when I bought my Puma which turned out to be caused byt he switch not being screwed tight in the box. I have also heard of reversing light failure being caused by the earth becoming disconnected, but this usually affects other rear lights as well. The earth for the rear lights is in an unexpected place, adjacent to the gearbox on the offside of the vehicle. I doubt that the OP's probelm is caused by either of these, though, a disconnected connector or loose wire is probably more likely.

Puma reversing light intermittant
Hi

I have had same issue, after about two years on 2008 TDCI, it is difficult to get to but can be done in around 20 min with a 17mm open ring spanner ground down a bit. It is a flimsy switch design and a lot cheaper to buy at Paddocks. WMcA Brisbane Australia

Is it accessible okay from underneath? I've never really confidentially located the thing properly really,it's a pig to get through from the top anyway so can't see it being any worse from underneath.
I'd have to take my whole cubby and Sub out to, no thanks! Thud $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Hi Defendertom I have just replaced my chassis and had the same problem. it was a 300tdi which may be different to yours but maybe not. the chassis wiring loom goes up into the rear tub in the o/s rear corner and then an extension loom goes over to the nearside above the rear crossmember. if you have a wiring diagram check the colour of the live feed and trace it back. I started at the front bulkhead connector block of the chassis loom. with ignition on you should have a live feed which you can check with a test lamp or multi meter. I did this all the way to the rear. and it turned out to be a dirty bullet connector at the o/s rear corner loom. hope this helps. Smile
