Build a trailer using 110 defender high cap tub
Hi Guys,
I have been left out with 110 high cap tub after 110 SW conversion couple of months ago. So now i want to build a trailer using my left out 110 high cap tub possibly with leaf springs. My current problem is that there is very little help and advice to build this sort of a trailer in my country (people use hardly any trailers here). I have seen some nice threads here with perfectly home made trailers but i guess if somebody can give me info (diagrams, instructions, parts required) to make mine from the scartch, that will be very usefull.

Appriciate.
Cheers Smile

Kind regards,
Diluk

Have a look at the LR Series 2 club forum: a group of members built a superb one out of the rear of a Series vehicle

I would have thought the easiest way would be to get a scrap 110 (if you wanted it on coils) or 109" (if you want it on leaf springs) rear chassis, complete with axle.

Bolt the tub to the chassis (in the correct factory place) then "make" an A frame at the front, bring both chassis legs in together to the tow hitch.

A simplified outline, but that's the way I'd go.

Seen quite a few started from Wide Track Sankey Trailers. Even if you cant get a complete one, possibly look at how they are constructed and make your own out of similar parts!

I have just aquired a narrow track Sankey with a Hi-Cap tub allready on it. Over time I might widen the axle, cut in half and space out the wheel track and perhaps put a swan neck near the A frame to lower the ring height to make the tub travel level.
