White Roofs - Opinions
Are white roofs on a new blue, grey or green Defender a bit old fashioned nowadays? Is this a sign that you can only afford a base spec model or that you are a traditionalist who values a more classic and timeless look?

What's the current thinking or maybe I should say fashion? Or maybe it's just down to personal taste or are there practical factors to consider?

It very much depends on colour IMO.

Colours where they look good - Keswick green, Loire? Blue
Meh - red, green, paler blue etc
In my opinion look awful - silver, black, grey, Fuji White (whites don't match), Havana

It also depends on spec I think, generally a 90 ht with white roof looks better than say an xs spec 110 sw

But there are many exceptions

However id always get body coloured roof as white symbolises 'base' spec to me Cheers, David

All a matter of choice I reckon.
The "white" roof on earlier Landrovers used to be a "creamy" colour called limstone, did it not?...I quite liked that, and I like the white roof on current Defenders,...sort of "traditional".
We have chosen to have an Indus Silver roof with our new Keswick 90.
Cheers, Pickles.

my base model tamar blue with white roof.

personally i like the retro look but i think the main colour has to be solid, not metallic, for it to work.
i also think the black spats and grille work best with this option.

When we bought our basic TD5, it had the black grille and light surrounds, which I have painted brunel grey and it has the black wheel arches, which I am going to colour code.

However the white roof I am leaving - I think it looks great with Cairns blue Thumbs Up

Large photo in my gallery.

I think the white/limestone roofs look good - particularly on green Land Rovers. It would also help with keeping things cooler in the tropics too I should think! An easy option to avoid paint matches if you damage the roof with a tent or roofrack etc. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

Keswick green 90hardtop, white roof, white wolf wheels, MTR's. I've had lots of metallic Landys with coloured roofs and alloys etc but this is one combo I won't get bored of....it's classic. Sib

That is a thing of beauty. I now know what colour blue my 110 will be when it goes back together.

Can't stand the blingy modern ones with coloured roofs, white or nothing!
