Does anyone have pictures of the below from a different angle. One idea I had was to paint the rear sides white / limestone as well to give a real series retro look and this is the closest I can get from a photo

There was a pucker tropical double skinned roof spec for that: Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

^^^ Yep complete with small opening vents let into the roof but under the outer tropical roof skin, they worked well too. Steve.

I have wondered about building one using a old 110 roof, but have a td5 smooth roof at the moment.

Thought I would resurrect this thread!
I note there was a comment earlier that 'Limestone' was only on the 110's (109's)...? Is that true? If so, what was the 'correct' traditional white on a 90 (shortie) please? Cheers, Pete. YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

Having had dark 4wds and white ones I went for a white roof. Even on a moderately warm day place your hand on a dark roof and then on a white roof and the difference is startling esp here in OZ
My jeep has a good air con but sitting in the vehicle i place my hand on the roof interior and its hot/warm and just soaks up all the cold air from the air con Last edited by protonpills on 26th Dec 2015 10:45am. Edited 1 time in total |

For what it is worth, I feel that white roofs are far more practical. I have driven around the Sahara twice, it was noticibly cooler when in the 90 with a white roof.
I have a station wagon 130 in bonatti (?) grey, this has a colour coded roof and looks good, but I do not think it is any better than a white roof. Yes it may be a link with the past, but let's face it Land Rover ownership is! If you like tradition then we should be using canvas hoods, for full effect, ripped and leaking. (I have one of those too) |

Just did a quick test today on my vehicles leaving them out in the sun for about 90 minutes and checked interior temps using a digital thermometer. Both vehicles are 2 door short wheelbase with tinted windows

Parked my Defender at a local retail park today. From over a mile away the Defender's white roof could be seen standing proud above the other parked up cars and reflecting the weak winter sunshine. No problem navigating our way back to the car.
A white roof on a Defender just looks right to my eye. |

Hi Lads,
I want to paint the roof, I see many that are stark white, cream etc ... .I would really like to know what the correct colour is lads, please advise. Mine is a 2008 defender I really like the white roof on Keswick, photos attached the one with the Surf board on the roof is the colour I am after https://paintman.co.uk/product-category/co...nt-whites/ I heard OLD ENGLISH WHITE might be correct ? Or Limestone ? My Truck is the last pic |
