United Kingdom 2011 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
Owned for 5 wks and first warranty issues....
I picked up my 11 plate 90 5 wks ago and on the drive back from the dealer I brought it from I noticed the front swivel was leaking so i booked it into my local dealer. In the end this is the work that was carried out....

New Clutch,
Swivel Joint seals both sides,
Front Pinion oil seal,
Heater adjustment,
Electric window switch,
Tracking,
Wiper blades,
Mud flap,
Read door stay,
and a resprayed roof!!

Have to say well done to my local dealer for doing everything else on the vehicle as they found it Thumbs Up , shame the dealer i purchased got a blindman to service it before i picked it up, shocking Evil or Very Mad . Darren

The 1989, 90/110 brochure (LR 483 issue 2) states...
A TIRELESSLY RELIABLE VEHICLE....TOTALLY RELIABLE SERVICE. THE LAND ROVER OWNER EXPECTS BOTH.AND GETS THEM.
Then there's brochure No. LRD900 (issued for the 90-110-130 300tdi) which states...
QUALITY IS A WAY OF LIFE BUILT INTO EVERY LAND ROVER,HELPING TO ENSURE THAT EVERY VEHICLE REACHES IT'S OWNER IN NOTHING LESS THAN PERFECT CONDITION.

I really do enjoy reading those brochures Very Happy 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

One of the lads has just brought a G reg ninety and its in pretty good nick. I really can't see the puma lasting that long. In fact since the name Defender appeared the materials used have got worse. Back then it was mainly just the engines that where crap, now it's the whole vehicule.

I use Marshalls at Bedford and they are about the best in the area. I would not use Hartwells of Northampton to service a peddle car let alone my land rover.

robkeay and darrenj, no one can predict the future... i liked my puma engine, and i have a soft sport for fords... the family 99 reg focus which was brought from new now on 120 000 miles only had its first bit of engine work done to it last year, a cam-belt... yes i know they are completely different engines but still the same manufacturer.
i hope my new 130 lasts me as long as some of the old 200 and 300 tdi's..

I had a company Mondeo that led a very hard life, 100k in 4 yrs, off road loads and on site, didn't even get it stuck! Did have a clutch at about 80k though, they're not really designed for off road it has to be said Whistle
Did love the car though and was ultra reliable being used in all conditions. Mr. Green Darren

Drives me mad listening to the 300tdi sh!te again.....yeah great engine but we are here now with the ford engine. It's like all forum , you only hear of the troubled ones. I bought my 90 tdci with 70k on it privately.......gave it a full full service 10k ago and it hasn't given an ounce of trouble. Was away for 3 weeks in Portugal doing work, came back and started her.....not a bother. Those puma engine are being trashed 24/7 in transits etc.....I think they are are a very solid unit. Current...07 90 Puma commercial

@ Bearcat.
Very true I agree with you myself too. I have had a good 14k with trouble free with my 57. I caused a few problems myself by having the battery termainal a bit loose at first but sorted that out seeing as I caused it anyway Embarassed But yes a good motor IMHO Thumbs Up $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

52k in three years in my Puma, and apart from the phantom engine management light I've not had one bit of bother with the engine. Most of my issues in the past were driveline/transmission related.

I don't doubt the reliability of the engine at all, especially as theres a few members on here that have racked up mega mileage - noworries4x4 did 200k+ in his old Puma and kingofthesparks I believe has racked up something equally impressive.

Now mine is sorted I have every faith it'll see 100k+ without too much fuss, especially as it doesn't work too hard for a living.
