Cleaning up chequer plate
I cleaned up the chequer plate on the 110 ready to be re-sprayed. I tried using a nylon rust remover attachment on the drill, while this worked it was slow going. So I tried a short tear-drop shaped wire brush attachment which worked better between the the treads but still took a while.
Is there a quicker way/better way? 1999 Defender TD5 110

My mate swears by it, you need to experiment a little with the strength, but worth a try.

Yes! If it removes mortar sand and limescale it will most certainly damage your paint. Find something more paint friendly.

I would possibly try something like this on a test area and have a hose ready to wash it off immediately it comes in contact with the paint perhaps?

This looks good but I would mask off well beforehand......

I have a test bit of ally so can practice on that.
As long as the surface is paintable after using brick acid, that would be good. 1999 Defender TD5 110

That did indeed look really good - have to wonder what the magic ingredients are Shocked

Would be interesting to know whether the newly cleaned surface stayed clean or actually deteriorated really quickly and so needed more and more frequesnt treatments to retain the clean look.
