2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Indus Silver

Wheel Bearing Noise

I am being driven mad by a noise in my 2012 XS 90. 37,000 miles. It sounded like a wheel bearing on the way out so I changed the one I thought it was but still had the noise. So convinced was I that I changed the other three too. Noise still there, comes on about 30mph. Just recently when it's been very cold it's not there for the first few miles but then on it comes again. Anybody experienced similar? where should I look next?

Is constant, road speed related, engine speed related / gear related?

It could be UJ or diff bearing.

It's fairly constant related to road speed not engine related.

Silly question but are you sure it is not your tyres? When friends have got in mine they said wheel bearings (only done 5k)....it definitely is not........the noise is the downside of nice looking MTRs! MY15.5 110XS CSW

Never thought of that. I've had the noise for quite some time and it never seems to get any worse. If it was a bearing I would have expected it to get louder. Not due tyres anytime soon so might be tricky to eliminate.

Try reversing the tread... front left to front right and likewise on the back... or diagonally fr with rl etc...

Tim It doesn't matter how bad it is, It can always get worse...
