Is there a preferred manufacturer of wheel bearings ie are skf currently better than timken or vice versa I know to avoid the blue box ones but of the brands which is the best vfm? Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I used to design gearboxes for mining equipment, we only used timken for tapers. This is 14 years ago now so memory fading, however i seem to recall that timken bearings are more shock resistant because they are case hardened and not through hardened.
