it makes a huge difference covering the tweeters on the dash with your hand, i have a function on my new head unit to turn the tweeters down, the speakers under the dash are pretty good really, give it a try and cover both tweeters

you have a v8, why would you need a radio?
does your head unit have a treble and bass control function? (or even a graphic equilizer) then lower the treble in increase the bass if you don't fit the sub. After you fit the sub this may have to be totally reversed by upping the treble setting and lowering the bass setting to compensate for the sub doing its job and to get a balanced sounding audio system. hope this helps |

Boxes is the only way I'm afraid. Under the dash they have an air space to create sound, bot in the back is minimal. Also enlarging the speakers will make a difference as they will move more air, but hold of until you have rigged the sub up, then you will see what you have to work with.
