No, I won't bother filling in the corners - it just has to be functional. The new tyres stick out about two inches from the body, so yes, just like a Defender with spacers but without the arches.
I'm hoping that the wheel arches will also give me somewhere to hang some mud flaps, which will hopefully keep the crud off the rear legs. Thanks. There won't be anything more until next month though, as I'm away on holiday for couple of weeks soon Darren

Hope you don't mind me interrupting your Sankey post, but I used defender rear arches on my Sankey, and if you have wheels with a hole for drive flanges to fit through, you don't need spacer, which was great for me as my wheels allowed this.

Hi Andy,
I'm guessing you've had a complete overlay panels made for each side to which the arches are fitted? If so, what are they made of and how are they attached? All I did was buy a pair of used rear painted arches off eBay for £20, and a bag of the fixing pins. Then brought 3mm Ali panels cut to the correct length, cost was £120. I then removed the hooks from the side of the trailer, held up Ali against the side and drew around trailer. I then laid arch into the drawn void on the Ali, added 15mm then cut with jigsaw, then I cut lots of small cuts up to the original drawn arch, causing many flaps that I then bent up, giving me a flange to fix arches too. also then drew straight lines from bottom of arch to trailer corner and cut these.
To fix the arches to the side panels I used the fixing pins but also glued them on with sikaflex, to stabilise the panels. The side panels are just bonded to the trailer sides with sikaflex, and bolts now holding on the hook. I think it is more complicated to write about this than do it, was all really simple, and makes the trailer look complete. Hope that makes sense. Did intend to take photos but got carried away. LRA- looking good.
simple question if you don't mind. how do you get the brake fluid cap off ? and one other thing......the trailer above which has the drop down tail on chains - would like to do this to mine. does anyone have some close up pictures to show how its been done and using what. (I know its not the most difficult thing but if someone has already done this successfully it would be easier just to copy....or should I say cut and paste ? |

hmm. I'll have to try that again.....I have a horrible feeling I've been trying to pull it off ...... (although I've not tried for a while I think the idea of unscrewing it for some reason didn't come into my head ) |

Ah, i understand your question now. The cap does have a large rubber cover on that might suggest it just pulls off. However, underneath is a regular plastic screw cap.
The exposed plastic reservoir is one of the few weak points of this trailer. Eventually, the sun gets to them making them brittle. Most of mine is now covered by the A frame 'deck' but I do plan to make a simple cover for the top to stop it getting knocked. Replacement reservoirs are available for about £30, although the cylinders themselves are very difficult to replace. How much will a trailer like this cost me, I can't see many Sankeys on ebay at all?
