I skimmed mine & changed the studs for Wurth ones. The studs were about £16. One was broken but not too bad to extract.

JE engineering (Coventry)will supply the stud kit- and will swap the manifold for a skimmed one about £400fitted IIRC. Or just get the stud kit, change yourself (probably have to dill and tap a stud or 2) and get a local engineer to skim your existing manifold about £50

I disagree..... from some test work I did on a customers vehicle, removing the webbing made no difference, and 10mm studs might solve the problem for a bit, but not needed. Also, making the very back stud 10mm means you get very close to the water jacket... which if you break into scraps the head. A skimmed manifold with a few tweaks and a stud kit with spacers to help heat dissipation - the manifold will be problem free.... unless your running stupid mapping. Also, if needed I have a proper jig I will rent out to allow you to centre holes properly. I have one of Ian's skimmed manifolds with an uprated stud kit and it's been perfect now for 3 years despite the heavy work I make it do. www.td5.org

Not sure about likely, but certainly possible. It depends on how it's driven and used. My 110 was remapped about 5-6k miles ago and is fine so far but my wifes old DII only failed in this way after about 30k miles so it's difficult to say. Darren

Hmm thats a bit worrying, do'nt want to have to spend another 500 Quid + after 300 for a remap......any other possible side effects of a stage 1 ?
