It's ironic; when I bought my Stage 1 nearly fifteen years ago, the previous owner had converted it so that it looked like a 110 Rolling Eyes

I bought all of the bits (at great expense, when they could still be bought new) to convert it back, including the grill, the metal Land-Rover badge and all of the little fixings and other odds and sods.

Now, I quite fancy converting my 110 in a similar manner! Darren

That's a lovely looking Stage 1 - much improved once put back to having the original grille etc.

Yes, maybe I'll have to de-badge the bonnet and have a Stage 1 style Land-Rover badge above the grille. Just need to convince the wife as I know she likes the bonnet lettering, but I'm not too keen on it myself!

Thanks. I bumped into the current owner at Dunsfold earlier in the year and it looks quote tatty now, unfortunately.

The above-the-grill badge is a pressed metal affair with two tiny spurs on the back that press into rubbery plastic bushes, that are in turn mounted in holes in the grill surround. Darren

Thanks for the badge info - pretty sure these are very rare these days - may need to get a replica CNC'd by Gavin at Artmin Design (he does some very nice reproduction badges).

Cheers,
Steve.

They are indeed quite rare, although they were not unique to the Stage 1s, the 127 had them for a few years until they got their own badge. 2011 110 USW

Thanks, I will keep an eye out on ebay... Thumbs Up

Got the Stage 1 grille trial-fitted today. Modified the lower mounting points etc, but still need to get the surround re-sprayed and original grille mounting holes filled. Quite like the 'no unnecessary plastic bits' look! Very Happy

That is really nice! Looking at it on the bench so to speak, I wasn't sure about it, but now it's fitted... I love it! Thumbs Up Mr. Green An engine to TDi for!

That does look good! I'm not really one for playing with the looks of a Defender as you know, but I like how this is turning out. Thumbs Up 2011 110 USW

Thanks for all the comments - pleased you like how this is turning out, I'm really enjoying personalising things in my own little way. Very Happy

Front grille surround is at the paint shop this week having the old grille holes filled in and a fresh coat of Keswick. These badges are winging their way to me from Gavin at Artmin Design too:

One of these mini-size badges will hopefully sit in the bottom right corner of the grille and is roughly the same size as the original new-style grille badge.

Will stick a photo up once it's all fitted. Very Happy

Have just taken advantage of the Skytag group buy too - thanks Matt Thumbs Up

New grille badge arrived today (top quality finish, very happy with it). Made a bracket to fit it securely with small rivets, all ready for the grille surround to come back from the paintshop now...

Well the front end is all done at last. Grille surround came back from the paint shop (old grille holes filled in), new grille and badge fitted.

Just need to take it somewhere more photogenic for some better photos now!

I was planning on getting it muddy in a few weeks at Landcraft in Wales, although the missus has just broken her arm so we may need to postpone - how inconsiderate! Rolling Eyes

Still toying with the idea of getting the wolf wheels powder coated in cream (LR Limestone ideally), but can't really justify it until they start to go rusty. Shouldn't take long... Very Happy
