I got my loom from Gary at Alive
Also get a rocker cover seal at the same time, probably the trickiest part of the whole job as getting the rear part of the seal to seat correctly is a pain Be prepared to keep checking the red plug every few days after you have changed the harness, it takes a while for all the residual oil to come out of the part of the loom you don't change. I am leaving the loom to drip until I get the new one. It has slowed to nearly nothing after about 4-5ml. Will seal the connector too as described in other threads. Hope it all works! What is the normal lifespan of the injectors? Just before the car started missing there was an unusual ticking from under the bonnet and it went into limp mode.My immediate reaction was 'injector off'!
Thanks guys. |

Well I've put the new loom in and cleaned every connection and freed off the wastegate as that was seized and it starts better but is definitely running on 4cyls. Would I do any damage by driving it very slowly about 19 miles to the garage? When I first started it it churned over and once it was 'running' there was a sound just like a birds' cheep at about engine speed coming from down the nearside of the engine. It was making this sound just before it started misfiring the first time. Is this the noise a duff injector would make Cheers wits end as I live in the middle of nowhere and can't get the spare cars' brake caliper to the refurbisher!!!!!! Grrrrrrrr!!!

Remove the rocker cover, and you'll see the 5 injectors.
they just plug in, so you could remove each plug, restart then see if you have two not working, until you get to the one that's duff, when just "one" will be malfunctioning If you have someone nearby with a nanocom, you can pulse each injector in turn and listen for the click as it fires. |

Thanks Jim, do mean just remove the electrical connections in turn? Presume it's ok to run engine with cam cover off?

Yeah, remove them in turn.
You'll probably get lots of mess if you run it with the cover removed, not sure, but you can just plonk it on top with a couple of bolts to hold it temperarily |
